We want to enlighten and entertain all of our listeners of the diversity and staying power of punk music. The Punk Rock History Lesson is meant to help newer punk fans understand exactly where it all came from. We are always eager to hear of any band we may have missed that may have influenced bands and artists at one time or in some particular place in the world. MRR's 20-year plus history and large, obsessed all-volunteer staff has made its punk rock coverage the most consistently up-to-date and reliable around. Maximumrocknroll, in its zine form, first appeared in 1982 as the newsprint booklet in Not So Quiet On the Western Front, a comp LP released on then-Dead Kennedys' label Alternative Tentacles.
