This self produced four track EP, it freaking hilarious. I assume it's all about the toilet and anything affiliated with it, as the first two tracks are titled "Rapid Relief" and "Bano Rodeo". The latter features a toilet flushing and a very happy individual using it, to close the song... Classic. Toilet humor, always funny! Just like monkeys. Always funny! The band Wupt, pronounced I'm guessing just as it's spelled, featured four members, with lead singer James hailing from the UK and the remaining members from Alaska. Yep, the catchy, humor infused group, comes all the way from Anchorage, Alaska...great music can be found anywhere. So within this four track album, I already mentioned the hiliarity in "Rapid Relief" and "Bano Rodeo", the rodeo mentions dropping an enchilata, that's funny! The third track, "Yo Mamma", is about your mamma. Not mine, your's. The song opens as a bit country, with a driving beat that crescendos into a downright dancable tune...that berates your mother. The lines "Hey punk why you treat me so bad? I recognize your mamma, I might be your dad!", does the comedy ever end? No. Another great line, "Make sure not to kiss your mom, cause you'll be tasting about a million of my special sailors." The track is not only funny, but catchy and quite a great sing along track, not that any of your friends would appreciate you talking about thier momma that way, but hey, it's just a great song! The last track is a bit of a departure from the rest of the disc, it's slower, more moody and not as funny. I think this is the band's attempt at making a more serious, and dramatic song that would set them up well as a legitamate rock band and not a band that is inspired strictly by bathroom humor. I think that they should stick with the humor. The songs associated are catchy, clear, danacable (even though they are not meant to be), all in all the previuos three tracks are just more fun. Fans of gritty, underground indie rock with a rock n roll spin, that allows the band to play with tempo and tell a funny story will dig Wupt and their self titled EP release. -MG |
