What Are You Going To Do? (released 2006)
Self Produced
This young three-piece street rock band have put out a really melodic stomper, that is a great beer drinking soundtrack. The nine tracks on this disc feature everything from Rancid-esque sounds to pub rock to gritty little mosh inspired tunes, all of which are great in their own right. The songs are memorable and have a sing-along feeling to them, for instance: the chorus to "Hey Hey Hey", "Bambi Went To France" somewhat immature lyrics, but only for the France and underpants rhyme, "Glue Afternoon" is great for the references to some favorite huffing events. Other tracks on this album like "Don't Shoot Dope" offer a warning, not sure if the band is straight edged, but they are pretty emphatic on this track. And then there is "I Just Wanna Be Alone", a plea to separate oneself from the group and spend some quality time alone...pretty straightforward. The music pops, and occassionally drops off to a stagnant one-two beat, that many would find slow, but I find simple and grove driven. Wolfgang Bang are laying it down, and doing it with a bit of style as opposed to a lot of thrash. If anyone is familiar with Dirty Tactics from Philadelphia, Wolfgang Bang remind me of them a lot! Both bands are young offer up One Man Army type sounds, and can create a tune that is exciting and full of youth energy! "What Are You Going To Do?" is a great additioin to any street punk's music collection, and if your new to the genre, Wolfgang Bang would be a great introduction. -MG
