Whiskey Sunday - www.whiskeysunday.com
Maldecido (released 2004)
1-2-3-4 Go! Records - www.1234gorecords.com
San Jose, California's Whiskey Sunday play a punk and roll sound (probably more roll) that reminds me of Hot Water Music. What you find on this disc is a true music sound that seemingly few, including Whiskey Sunday, can kick out. I mean your not head banging to this, you're listening to it. The music moves you more than physically. I'm not sure why, but the vibes the band puts on this album just make your head smile. The new album has fifteen tracks of just straight-forward rock that is really good, but I found that the lyrics were kinda erratic. I wasn't really picking up what they were putting down, except for the song "Radiation Kid". "Maldecido" is the band's debut release on 1-2-3-4 Go! Records, but they have managed to put out a self-titled release on their own, that was apparently very successful. While I dig the sound of Whiskey Sunday, with their twists on a little oi, a bit of guitar rock and a splash of punk... I fear that this is probably not for the crustiest of punks. However, if you like good ole guitar rock that has a great feel, Whiskey Sunday is for you! -MG
