I liked rap once, I think it was 1986, the band Run-DMC. They were cool. This isn't really that cool. I tried to give this album a chance, really tried, I'm open to new things, but this really isn't my cup of tea. Or cup of anything for that matter. But here's what I can say, the album is the concept of Coheed & Cambria drummer Josh Eppard, that fact probably helped sell quite a few of these discs... The album bounces around with different beats and grooves, but ultimately ends up sounding like Outkast and Eminem illegitimate child most of the time. You know, along the lines of good beats and grooves and even honest to goodness effort, but still concieved by amatuers. Not that I'm much better as a rapper...I had a rap sometime ago, went like this: "An ass kicker from the East burg; gonna kick ya to the shitty curb; they call me MC Getridge, got a long pepridge; girlies get with me, I will please; rock the town like a moldy crouton, f* all my women on a fold out futon." Yeah, that's bad, some friends and I concieved our own raps after watching "CB4". So anyway, it's not that Weerd Science blows bad rap, just not very good rap and definately not to my tasting. Oh yeah, there are fifteen tracks of this stuff. Perhaps they should have kept it on the proch like me and my friends did. -MG |
