This is easily one of the best records I have recieved in a long time, conveniently this record comes from the same label that brought you The Deacons, another Hussieskunk favorite. So I'm told that this disc took over two years to compile and features some pretty impressive personnel. From Joey "Shithead" Keithly to Mark Linskey to Cheetah Chrome to Vic Bondi to Dave Dictor, all are featured with their own track on this disc of eighteen songs. The beauty is that each song is acoustic, and probably one that you've never heard of before...bonus!! Most of the disc's song's subject matter is aout what it used to be like in the punk community, unity, anti-war, anti-this or that, drinking and, well, politics just to argue. I love this disc for it's simplicity mainly, but having all the stars of the underground on one disc playing songs you'll never hear anywhere else in this format is what makes it such a gem to own. With songs that tip toe across teh line of folk punk, garage punk and gutter punk, this disc will satisfy the tastes of many rockers out there. Any fan of old school punk rock, I mean real punk rock from the 70s and very early 80s, should run out and bulldoze anyone in your way to get this disc. I cannot say it enough, that this is a must have for anyone who knows real punk...just like Fran Powers says in "Punk ATM," "I remember when Manic Panic was a store... I remember when you couldn't buy punk at the mall". This disc is the gospel of old school punk revival and remembrance! -MG |
