So this compilation is another George Bush hater album. Well he's on the cover, but I think it refers to just about any tyrant. While the trend still exists for hating on GW, which I don't support by any stretch, I really think this needs to stop. I mean the guy is in his final two years of the presidency. Now is the time to act and work to get someone in office that people can approve and be proud of, no need to wait until it happpens. All the big time movers and shakers of the political world are already acting, as mid-season elections are on us in a few weeks. Alright, stepping down off of my pedastal... Most of what you get on this two disc comp is what you'd expect, a lot of political undertones and socially driven tracks that are meant to inspire, enlighten and encourage action on the part of the listener. I think most of the album is pretty good, it's quite a mix of genres, but good. You'll find the new slow rap, country, folk, rock, punk, metal and some other variations that fall in between more mainstream sounds. I didn't get any external information about this disc in the form of a promo sheet or anything, but my gut tells me that this disc originates out of Austin, Texas (funny, GW's home state, they made him governor there). Why do I figure the Texas connection, well... Several of the bands on the disc are from Texas, with the rest being mainly international acts hailing from Sweden, Switzerland, Italy and (whoa!) even Poland! Again, the disc has several genres represented and any GW hater would be interested in the disc, although I've only heard of one band on the entire thirty-three song set. If it's cheap enough for you, it may be worth picking up, but if you're tired of the president bashing from over the past six years....steer clear. -MG |
