Beer swilling, street punk straight from St. Petersburg, Russia. The Pauki, translated as The Spiders, whip it and show all just how badass Russian punk rock can be! "The Splinters Of The Mind" is twelve tracks of pub styled punk rock in the vein of Dropkick Murphys, you really shouldn't compare an Irish band with a Russian band, but the fact is, The Pauki play a style of punk that is heavily Russian. Similarly, as DKM plays heavily influenced Irish music. That's the comparison I wanted to make. In any case, The Pauki paly loud, fast, aggressive punk rock that is so fast paced, you'll find your foot in the floor when driving around with this album in the stereo. On "The Splinters Of The Mind", the Pauki sometimes begin sounding very metalicious, but I don't think it detracts from the band's ability to rock out with their street punk sound. One other thing I've noticed about the band... They are very prolific! They have over ten albums to their credit, basically an album a year since their inception! Name any other punk band that can do that! Fans of hardcore street rock will appreciate the Pauki more that I can possibly reign praise upon them. This album is solid all the way through and won't disappoint many, even though the bands sings the entire album in Russian, they offer a translated lyric sheet that will only help you develop your knowledge of the Cyrillic alphabet and your Russian pronounciation. -MG |
