The six-piece ska rock band Stalking Roxy opens up to a lot of feelings on this disc. It seems to me that all, but perhaps one song on here is about relationships or introspection. Not that that is a bad thing. I suppose I was hoping for a lot of energy and action. Don't get me wrong the album still rocks when it needs to, but it isn't constant enough for my personal tastes. Something that separates the band from others, and something that I'm sure the band gets all the time, but I'll say it again: Stalking Roxy is fronted by an extremely beautiful and very talented front woman that can belt it out when she needs to. Deziree has got a set of lungs on her that puts to shame many of the female-fronted rock acts heard on the radio today! She also contributes the most to the songwriting, and I'm thinking that is the biggest source for the mellowed emotional lyrics. While well written and clearly from some personal experience, the lyrical content was not what I was expecting. "Look In The Mirror" has eleven tracks of upbeat ska rock music and Deziree's wonderful singing of lost loves, longing and inner visions together, make for an interesting release that would be a lot of fun to see live. I like what Stalking Roxy is offering up, but like I said, the lyrical content wants to slow the mood down. At the same time though, I'm sure the band knows how to rock out, especially when seen live! -MG
