Coming to you straight outta the UK, Shortcut To Newark plays pop punk in the style of a New Found Glory. I suppose the real difference between STN and NFG is that these guys do it all with just four members as opposed to five. Excitable at times, and often very energetic, the band manages to keep your ears busy with their ten song release "Gearing Up For Getting Down". The title really says it all, this disc is something that you can listen to before going out and tearing up the town with all your pop punk rocker friends. The band has played around their local area for some time now, and as far as I can tell must have great following, seeing as though most of their tours have been DIY. That tells me that they know their fan base well and knows how, when and where to best rock out with like minded people. Seems like they're a pretty down to earth band that plays pop punk with nothing but fun in mind, a really blessing I think. One thing that I didn't like about the album is that it ends too quickly! I was hoping for more! I found myself spinning the album again and again just to take in the full effect that STN deliver. These guys play really great music that shouldn't be missed by anyone that is a fan of today's pop punk scene. -MG |
