Seemless (released 2005)
Equal Vision Records - www.equalvision.com
This album was originally released by an Equal Vision employee's record label Losing Face Records, based in NY. Equal Vision saw the beauty in the band and disc and decided to re-release it for more fans to become entranced by the band's blues rock vibe. The band is made up of four guys, all of whom you probably know from Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage and Overcast. It appears that all of the members kinda got tired of the hardcore and metal scene and wanted to try out some new material. The results are pretty freakin good, but not 100% my style. I like blues rock, don't get me wrong, but I think there is something different going on. The band has the bluesy feel, but sometimes the metal and punk in them come out and seem to "alter" the mood of the track. Its an interesting mix of music, but again I find it hard to differentiate the band from many of today's "rock" crowd that try to sing or play blues rock. There are twelve tracks on the disc, some of which are pretty moody and rocking at the same time, while often times remaining pretty dark and brooding. The last track on the disc is an interesting one... It's a live track from the band's gig at Sirius Radio. Pretty good, but I'm not sold on the band. Give Seemless' new disc a spin for yourself and let me know what you think. They remind me of Godsmack, and I think I've already made my thoughts known about that band. - MG |
