Milk (Radio Sampler) (released 2005)

Well first of all, this is a radio sampler, we didn't get the full album...and I'm pretty disappointed by that. This disc only has four of the ten songs featured on the full length of the same name. In any case, the band is a three-piece that plays a poppy rock meets a punky alt-rock sound. All four of the tracks on this disc are catchy enough to fit into mainstream radio, and to be honest, may be a little more pop than is used to on Hussieskunk. we have played our share of pop rock come punk rock, but I'll tell you the difference... Planeside is fucking good, the others are just MTV popular. While Planeside doesn't strike me as your traditional punk rock band, they deserve the moniker of pop punk rock. The beats are catchy, the guitars are fast, the vocals snarl (as best they can and still be listenable), and all in all, the songs are snappy good. Planeside doesn't go for the social commentary, the comedy tour, or the girls make me cry approach...it's adult minded pop rock that is refreshing to me. Now of the four tracks featured on the disc we have, the one sheet that came with the disc says to feature tracks two through four. That leaves track one by itself, and in this reviewers opinion, track one is the best track. While the remaining tracks fit the format of punk rock more, the first track has that hook that keeps me hitting the repeat button. Who am I kidding, I just hit repeat on the whole album...well the four track album! Here's to believing that the full length is even half as good as this four tracker is, well it's almost there, 4 great tunes out of 10 is 40%... -MG |
