Watch What You Say To Ghosts (released 2004)
Lujo Records - www.lujorecords.com
Fangs reminds me of the White Stripes slowed waaaaay down and then pumped full of heroin. "Watch What You Say To Ghosts" is a very bluesy and artsy album that incorporates pianos, floaty shouting vocals, and overwhelming guitars and rhythmic grooves. The first track on the album "Pentagramme Lollipoppe" at first sounds like the opening track to a great horror flick, but then things get all scattered and become heavy free blues rock. While this does not fully qualify as punk rock, you can certainly give it a thumbs up for the indie rock vibe and the huge piles of creativity that gave birth to the album. Fangs are a band that you would want to take some acid to, go to the show and trip your ass off while the band painted this gorgeous picture for you. "Watch What You Say To Ghosts" is intricately wonderful and well put together, its unfortunate that many Hussieskunk listeners probably wouldn't dig it, unless you were really open to find out what hippies and artsy-fartsy people are up to these days. With only nine tracks, you won't have long to listen, but if your on really good drugs and want a great spooky and hauntingly wonderful album to accompany you on your dose, then "Watch What You Say To Ghosts" is for you. -MG |
