Eight Fingers Down - www.eightfingersdown.com
Sampler (released 2005)
Ibex Records - www.ibexrecords.com
Eight Fingers Down play some great punk n roll! It's a shame that there is only three songs on this sampler, as it's meant as a promotional item for the full length that came out in May 2005. I would like to hear the full album from these guys as this is really good stuff. The songs remind me of so many bands... NoFX, Ann Baretta, Downtrodn, Cap Gun Suicide and more. The vocals remind me a a young Fat Mike, while the music brings thoughts of the remaining bands mentioned. It's upbeat, catchy punk rock that doesn't veer off into being too bubble gum and not too hard. Eight Fingers Down a radio friendly version of punk that can and will surely suck in the masses, once they get the opportunity to reach the world. The band varies the sound from a solid power punk to heavier party punk, with the latter being their strong suit. Eight Fingers Down are the kind of band that can have a crowd moving, screaming and trashing the joint with just a few barrs of any of the three tracks on here. Unfortunately, I don't know a lot about the band, but I do have a website that filled me in more, and I suggest you check it out too at: www.eightfingersdown.com. A solid sample that will make me go out and pick up the full length album that the band currently has out. Don't miss it if you are a fan of Rookie, International Businessmen or any of the up and coming not-to-poppy, upbeat punk acts. -MG
