Many Were Killed, Few Were Chosen (released 2007)
Rowdy Farrago Records
Destructors666 have finally done it. They've got a full length album out and available for consumpotion by those of us that have hungered for a complete collection from the group. You see Destructors666 have been releasing splits with other local or similar sounding artists for a couple of years now. You'd always get about three tracks from the band, somewhat a teaser release I would always refer to them as. It was just enough to get you all worked up and drive you crazy that you couldn't get more from the band. Well the wait is over with "Many Were Killed, Few Were Chosen"! On this record you get eighteen tracks of classic Destructors666 punk rock n roll that will not fail to dazzle your destructor desires. Although, I do have one hang up on the album... Eighteen tracks, but only seven are unreleased. One of the unreleased is a cover of the Stooges' "1970", two of the 'released tracks' are just place holders of sorts, nothing happens in four seconds on the opener. Not sure what's goig on there, but hey, it's a full length! Who am I to complain? All of the split releases are featured here, so if you didn't get them first time, you can get them now. The classic punk rock sound is alive and well with Destructors666; they are keeping it very real by keeping their sound as close to what they played over twenty-five years ago. Some of the better tracks on this release would include the previously released, "Trinty" with it's scorching lead vocal and chorus chants, the futuristic sounds of "S.E.R.B." and the blistering fast and potent "AK47" (probably my absolute favorite). Destructors666 have offered up exactly what I have been looking for in that there is finally a singular collection of all of their great old school punk rock tunes, but it does fail to hit the mark completely, because I have been privvy to all of the split releases. If they made this a simple six track release full of the material previously unrelease, I suppose I would still have been disappointed. Maybe I'm just a punk snob, or maybe I still want more from the band! Stop by their website to find out about all of the releases, both now and twenty-five years ago. I think you'll be pleasantly suprised at how prolific the group has been. And if you're lucky or smart, you can get a hold of some of the first generation material from the band. The older material is great stuff in it's own right. -MG |
