Rough, relentless, punding, gravel-laced...just a few words that come to mind when listening to the debut album from San Francisco's Desolation. Reaching back into the depths of crust, hardcore and metal, the band pulls it's burning fury out of the realms of melodic hell for all to experience. This is simple brutality wrapped in a nice jewel case. From the pounding, thrashing guitar angst that translates into an orchestral movement of the highest level, and a non-stop assult on the drum set, that is to put it nicely is simply inhumane; no one person should have to hammer out the skins as hard as the drummer is on this entire CD! Desolation has manufactured a new breed of hardcore that isn't quite European and not exactly Japanese. Occasionally opening up with an East Coast thrash sound, the band falls quickly back into it's straight and narrow stretch of relentless crust meets metal explosions. Vocally the band doesn't let up on it's all out assult on your senses, and speakers! The tones are throat ripping, I am imagining the band can only play the weekends while the lead singer has time to recoup. this is just a blistering set of twelve tracks of over the top hardcore crust, that will certainly not disappoint the hardest of punk rockers and skins out there. Don't miss this disc, cause I would be afraind that if I did, it would find me and kick my ass! -MG |
