Demonology (released 2007)
Gearhead Records - www.gearheadrecords.com
This collection of hard to find tracks is a gift from the band to all of their fans over the years. You get sixteen tracks, four of which are covers of The New York Dolls, Alice Cooper, The Pagans and the Misfits. Demons are the first band ever signed by Gearhead Records, the label that brought you the Hives, and currently supports New Bomb Turks, Gitogito Hustler and The Spunks. The label has only been around for about eight years, with Demons having been around for about ten by the time they signed on with Gearhead back in 2000. The band, Demons hailing from Sweden (again the Hives connection) plays rock n roll, with punk attitude and style. Just as you've grown to appreciate and expect a certain sound coming from the Scandenavian part of the world, Demons doesn't fail to deliver. It's funny, this band hasn't really published any new material in a few years, but their influence and creativity extends through today. Why is that funny, well it seems for a long time that the Northern Europe scene had a few bands sneak out, but it wasn't until International Noise Conspiracy, The Refused, The Hellacopters and now teh Hives put a stamp on the area and declared it a hot bed of music. But Demons were there first, and probably could have enjoyed as much or more commercial success as the previously mentioined artists. This release of b-sides, compilation tracks and more is a testament to the band's great talent, influence and superior musicianship even twenty years fifteen years after their inception. Fans of gritty rock n roll, combined with punk rock snarl, attitude and energy rejoice! Demons are here to please your senses, with this compilation of some of their best material tucked away from the mass media machine that would have likely helped them burn out too quickly. -MG |
