We Want To Be In Your Radio, We Want To Be In Your Heart (released 2004)

From what I can tell, this entire (or nearly the entire) album is about a girl. Maybe more than one, but I'm thinking that whomever she is/was, she scrambled someone's feelings and mind pretty damn good. Carousel Shy put their best faces on when delivering the angry messages they're leaving for her. They manage to play upbeat indie pop rock meets groovy emo licks and lyrics. While the disc is a melodic mix of tangle grooves, and the beats are thoroughly driving, I get the feeling this is almost a revenge album? Can this be the impetous behind the album? I doubt it, cause the band is really good! Carousel Shy have created a really great album that dabbles in all kinds of sounds that range from the aforementioned emo and pop to rock and even a little screamo-ish variations. Maybe the screaming is to emphasize a point, one way or the other, it is extremely effective in pushing the songs to their absolute limits! This is really great music that, again is moody and melodicly wonderful. The third song on the disc "Please Don't Go" is the absolute tits on this album! It's perhaps the best effort out of all eleven tracks. With the questioning, wanting lyrics, the piano (yes, piano) the punchy edge to the song, the screaming, the singing, the electronic beeps and blips...it is truly an incredible song of sheer passion and longing! "Please Don't Go" exemplifies the band and this entire album, if you can't dig "Please Don't Go", then you won't like Carasoul Shy at all! In fact, I have been listening to just this one song for the better part of two hours! I should really move on to another disc to review, but damn is that song f'ing great! Again, there are eleven tracks on the album, but you would hardly notice the changes from track to track. When listening to the disc as a whole, each track works so well into the next, that it paints a fantastic audio picture that is sure to please many! -MG
