What a great release! Thirteen tracks in twenty-eight minutes. Blistering fast. Tremendously aggressive. Highly danceable. Just plain fucking great! Add up the compliments and you've got a stunning release from a set of guys whom are nothing short of musical geniuses. From the record label that first brought you the Hives and The Spunks, now offers up Bob Burns And The Breakups! Along the lines of The Spunks more than the Hives, Bob Burns And The Breakups plays gritty garagey punk rock n roll that is both catchy and edgey. Every track is a blast of fury that is controlled and focused on kicking your ass, or at the very least moving it in a rythmic motion. From the opener "Rip It Up," an appropriate title for a ripper of a song, to the 70s-esque punk tune "I Hate The City" and then on to "Some Feeling" with it's shout-attack vocals and miscreant guitars dancing around the tunnelled vocals, Bob Burns And The Breakups deliver thropughout the disc. I gotta tell you, it's been a couple of months of listening to some shitty discs before I stumbled upon this one. What a great ride, it's a thirteen track blast of furious punk rock tunes that covers both my rock sensibilities and my punk needs. Hailing from Wisconsin, a strange place for punk rock, but probably ideal for blistering garage rock, Bob Burns And The Breakups pick you and never ease up their grip on your auditory canals. I love every track on this disc! While I prefer street punk, I often find myself taken with the chaotic nature of garage rock and the seemingly undisciplined nature of artists like Bob Burns And The Breakups. This is not to be missed, for fans of aggressive punk rock and heavy distorted guitars courtesy of garage rock influences, Bob Burns And The Breakups is going to be a great addition to you collection. -MG |
