Broke Chamber Music (released 2004)
Secret Keeper Records - www.secretkeeperrecords.com
Columbus, Ohio's own the Bassholes have compiled a collection of their earliest recordings, many from their previous singles releases. Don't you know much about the Bassholes? Well, they are a two piece, currently comprising of Don Howland (vocals/guitar) and Bim Thomas (drums). These guys have been playing the roots, blues, alternative sounds since before many of us could have even imagined a two piece band selling a million albums (see the White Stripes). The twenty-three tracks on this album are very raw and unpolished, just the way the band wants you to view and understand them. This isn't music for the masses, this is music for the lovers of the true feel of rock and blues. That's why it's called roots rock with a kick! So again, of the twenty-three tracks you find a live cut, some unreleased material and tracks from their previous releases, which apparently have only been available on vinyl. You really can't go wrong if you dig this kind of music. The Bassholes have been doing it for a long time and have achieved a status that is almost legendary around these parts. "Broke Chamber Music" is a great introduction to the band, and once you realize the genius of the band, you'll never ever part with this album! -MG |
