Bridge 9 always has the best hardcore music and this disc is perhaps the best one yet! Anger Regiment features former members of the Equal Vision Records' band Floorpunch playing NY hardcore in the vein of H2O. I mean the similarity between the two bands is incredible! I am a huge fan of H2O, and now I am a huge fan of Anger Regiment. The lyrics are straight-forward messages of hope, hate, awareness and personal experiences...all of which, are the same grounds many NYHC bands use in their lyrics. With only three of the four members playing instruments, I was taken aback by the intense power that the band manages with the driving sonic blasts from each member. All three: guitar, bass and drums can clearly be heard on every track, the mastering and production of this album is absolutely brilliant! With only eight songs (one of which is an instrumental), anc clocking in at just over fifteen minutes, Anger Regiment gives it to you fast and hard. That is exactly the way NYHC should be in my mind! This album is outstanding in its hardcore simplicity and pounding wall of sound...a disc not to miss if you are a fan of true East Coast hardcore! On a side note, I must say that something seems wrong about the disc... The song titles on the back of the tray card don't match what is actually played on the disc, for instance "Empty" is listed as the fifth song, but actually comes up as the third. No big deal if you are paying attention, but it might cause a problem for others... Just noting it is all! -MG |
