Amber Pacific back with a new album of material inspired by their fans and friends, offers up a tremendously catchy and absorbing album. Althoguh there are listed to be twelve tracks on the album, you really only get ten, as two are instrumental tunes that clock in, in under a mintue. I'm rather disappointed by that, but maybe they are preludes to the songs that follow. In any case, the band has turned their Warped Tour exposure into quite a strong following from the swarms of people that attend the yearly festival. I think that Amber Pacific has played the Warped Tour at least three times now! Not that there is anything wrong with that, it's a great place for a young band to gain exposure, see Fall Out Boy if you're unaware. But I think there should be some term limits to performing on the tour...Amber Pacific have met their limit. They should toour strong on albums like this one. From the track "Temporary", with it's bouncy and moody beats to "Runaway" with Mike Herrera of MxPx guesting on vocals, the band is through and through a pop punk band in the vein of Red Jumpsuit Apparatus or even Yellowcard. On "Truth In Sincerity" that band has really hit their stride with their brand of the latest incarnation of pop punk meets emo pnk meets digestible alternative rock n roll that the masses of oblivious teenagers will choke on to impress their friends. Hey it's true, that's most of the Warped tour brethren and Amber Pacific has garnered a large portion of that audience. This release will only solidify their popularity among fans, friends and those that watch the tour from outside the fences. -MG |
