Keeping with just about every other release from Blue Worm Records, All The Way Rider walks a fine line of rock between neo-hardcore and emo-rock. The band doesn't veer too far away from the middle point too mucha t all, on any single track. they are a true blue rock band, that has great musicianship and incredible writing skills. It's said in the band's promo sheet that it's all about writing, playing and rocking...this disc is a clear indication of that mantra. With ten tracks on here, you get a healthy dose of the band's meaty guitars, not quite so shredding vocals (but certainly very well presented), and a solid rhythm laid down by the drums and bass. All The Way Rider are straight up rock n roll that doesn't disappoint. Riding the line between a hardcore sound, the sonic ferocity of the band is so subtle, that I find myself sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for them to explode with passion and electricity, but they don't. That's where the emo-rock side fo them kicks in, they are so level headed delivering the message and sound with a delicate and deliberate touch. While not outright catchy, many of the tracks are moving enough to have you rockin and rollin in your shoes, whether you know it or not. The release is a powerful debut full length, a great foudnation for the band to delve head first into a more aggressive sound, or a more subdued deliberate musical direction. I like this release very much, the even keeled sound throughout shows that the band can commit to a style, now if only they'd really unleash the potential energy they seem to keep bottled up in many of the tracks. Now that would be a hell-fire release that would entice many from both sides of the rock fence to call All The Way rider their own. -MG |
