We want to write to thank everyone who has contributed recently, or bought a lifetime subscription to Clamor Magazine. We are steadfast at work trying our darnedest to finalize the Winter issue for your reading pleasure, and that includes digging in our couch cushions to find the funds to cover basic operating expenses. You might have heard that independent magazines are going the way of the dinosaur, and while Clamor is not yet extinct, you can definitely find us on the 'endangered species' list. Only your financial support can keep us in the land of the living.
Seven years is a long time to sustain a magazine, particularly one that is completely run by volunteers, but that doesn't mean it gets any easier. Despite ongoing success, accolades and support from the community, most popular independent media outlets are struggling from month to month to survive - just ask the New Standard, an "independent, non-profit, commercial free, uncompromised" media source, which may have been forced to close up shop by the time you read this. We're dropping like flies in this world of corporate dominion, which is all the more reason why we need to keep fighting.
We know about being strapped for cash, which is why we're asking those of you who don't have an extra Benjamin (or two) in your pocket to get creative in your efforts: have a yard sale to get rid of those pants you haven't worn since last summer, plan a variety show in your living room, or organize an event in your area to benefit Clamor. Every. Single. Dollar. Counts.
Send your check (write "donation" in the memo line) by November 1st to:
Clamor. P.O. Box 20128, Toledo, OH, 43610 or use a Credit Card on our secure server here.
You’re probably thinking that you’ve heard this before, and that’s because you have. And you’re going to keep hearing it until we're not around to say it anymore, because we love what we do, and we love doing it with people like you.
In struggle, but still fighting...
The Clamor Crew
